Whether you are newly certified or an experienced diver dry suit diving is for you!

Let's face it: New England Diving can, at times, be a bit on the chilly side. Dry Suit diving presents some unique challenges in comparison to diving in a wet suit. It's these challenges that the Dry Suit Diver course will help you learn to overcome. Come learn to dive warm, comfortable and safe with the experienced qualified staff at Undersea Divers.

The Course

The course is broken down into three major sections: academic discussions, a pool session, and 2 open water dives. Academic Discussion: We will compare different types of exposure protection options and the advantages and disadvantages as well as the care involved with each option. In addition, we will cover the different types of valves, seals, undergarments, and other dry suit accessories and components that you might need during your diving career. Finally we will discuss some of the special considerations for dry suit diving and methods for coping with these situations should they arise underwater. Pool: We will familiarize ourselves with some of the buoyancy characteristics and new techniques that are required to safely and comfortably dive in a dry suit. Open Water: During the open water dives we will apply the skills that we learned in the pool to an open water dive.

How do I get started?

You need to come in to the dive shop and pay for the class and purchase the Dry Suit Diver Manual. You will also get a blue folder with the kit which needs to be filled out prior to class. The folder contains a medical statement, if you answer yes to any of the questions you must get the PADI Medical Statement from the dive shop or download from the link below and take the form to your doctor for clearance before class.
In order to take the full advantage of the information and skills presented in class you need to do a little homework, it's not much but it will make a big difference. Prior to class you should read and complete the knowledge reviews (2 sections at the back) in the PADI Drysuit Diver specialty manual. Finally, if you do not already own a suit be sure to let us know so we can make sure we have a rental that will fit.
