PADI Deep Diver
Visit those sites that were always just out of reach. Do you want to:
- Visit deeper shipwrecks
- See the brilliant marine life at deeper depths
- Improve your basic diving skills and knowledge
Then the Deep Diver Course is for you.
The Course
The purpose of the PADI Deep Diver Specialty course is to familiarize the advanced diver with the
skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and enjoyment
of safely diving between the depths of 60 to 130 foot. The course consists of one evening of class
and four open water training dives. Theory sessions will revolve around the discussion and use of
various dive planning tools and software, emergency decompression and advanced decompression
sickness theory, specialized equipment and configuration including redundant air sources and their
use, air management techniques, and deep diving techniques. The four ocean dives will be conducted
from a local charter boat and will include simple deep-diving related tasks and learn how to perform
important deep diving skills.
How do I get started?
You need to come in to the dive shop and pay for the class and purchase the Deep Diver Manual.
You will also get a blue folder with the kit which needs to be filled out prior to class.
The folder contains a medical statement, if you answer yes to any of the questions you must get the
PADI Medical Statement from the dive shop or download from the link below and take the form to your
doctor for clearance before class. In order to take the full advantage of the information and skills
presented in class you need to do a little homework, it's not much but it will make a big difference.
Prior to class you should read and complete the knowledge reviews (2 sections at the back) in the
PADI Deep Diver specialty manual. You must also review how to use the PADI Recreational Dive Planner or
your dive computer. Please note that if you have to change the date of the boat dives for any reason
there is an additional boat cancellation fee of $70 for each day missed.
Prerequisites
You must be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another
training organization and be at least 15 years of age.
