Dive Bonaire: November 2018
November 3 - November 10
Why Dive Bonaire?
We are headed back to our favorite island November 3rd – 10th, 2018. For over 30 years Undersea Divers has been running trips to this “Diver’s Paradise” and divers have been coming back year after year. If you’ve never been to Bonaire, don’t miss out on this opportunity to experience pure diving freedom. Bonaire’s pristine reefs and diverse marine life are unique to the Caribbean. Because the waters around Bonaire are designated as an official marine park, diving Bonaire is like diving the Caribbean the way it used to be – untouched and unspoiled. The island’s location in the south Caribbean gives it an arid climate with little rainfall; consequently, the waters are exceptionally clear of silt, calm, and divable year round. It is an ideal destination for underwater photographers. Water temps average a warm 78–84° with visibility often over 80 feet and frequently up to 150 feet. Few destinations offer the photographic opportunities that you will find in Bonaire. With incredible visibility, abundant fish life and healthy reef system, wide angle opportunities are naturally abound. But it is the bounty of macro life visible both day and night, that truly sets Bonaire apart.
Divi Flamingo Resort
The studio units are located in a charming, sky- blue, gingerbread- style complex with a private pool. It offers guests two double beds with a queen sleeper sofa, fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator and coffee maker, and spacious screened porch. All studio units offer pool views.
Divi Flamingo Beach Resort Hotel and Casino reflects the casual mood and rich natural beauty of Bonaire, with a modern and comfortable atmosphere. “Barefoot Elegance” is the theme of this resort, one of the island’s best! There are 150 rooms, each tastefully decorated in an island theme and each with a sheltered patio or balcony. All rooms are air-conditioned and have daily maid service.
The Flamingo Beach Resort has 2 restaurants on the property. Pure Ocean is a beach-side restaurant open for breakfast and lunch daily. They have a wonderful made-to-order breakfast buffet and a delicious variety of food for lunch. Dinner is served at the Chibi Chibi restaurant a casual yet elegant over-the-water restaurant. The Player’s Bar is located next to the Flamingo Casino, and serves cocktails and light snacks in the afternoon and evenings. There are many fine restaurants located within walking distance from the hotel. The restaurants in town are quite amazing. Tell Whitney what you want and she will find the perfect restaurant for you!
The Flamingo Casino is a great place to try your luck at various casino games. There is black jack, roulette, craps, and a good assortment of slot machines. You can also rent a car from the on-property rental agency or get pampered at the resort’s beauty salon.
There are 2 swimming pools at the resort with plenty of lounge chairs to relax. Beach towels are provided in your rooms. The water in your rooms is safe to drink and the electricity is 110 volts. There are no hair dryers in the studio rooms and the dive shop has a charging station for video and camera equipment. Some of the activities available, in addition to diving, include renting a bicycle to ride the two miles to the historic capital of Kralendijk or hiking with resort guides to the top of Seroe Largoe, a high point of any visit to Bonaire.
Other options include visiting Lake Gotomeer, a saltwater hideaway where a number of the island’s 15,000 pink flamingos strut their stuff, taking a water taxi to the nearby island of Klein Bonaire, or taking a mountain bike ride on some of the island’s over 300 kilometers of trails.
The waters around Bonaire are home to more than 500 species of fish, as well as more than 120 kinds of coral. These waters have been designated a national park and are managed by the Bonaire National Park, which protects them year round. Divers and snorkelers alike can gaze in wonder as colorful creatures, large and small, feast on a reef that serves as an underground water banquet table. Because of Bonaire’s unique location in the south Caribbean near Aruba, Bonaire’s climate is arid with little rainfall, making the waters clear, calm and diveable year round. Water temperatures average a warm 78-84 degrees and water visibility often averages over 100 ft. The marine life you will find are green and spotted morays, turtles, spotted eagle rays, frogfish, seahorses, peacock flounder and so many kinds of fish.
