Dive Dominica: Dive & Nature Trip November 2017
November 4 - November 11
Join us in Dominica November 4th – 11th, 2017. We ran a trip to Dominica this past November and loved it so we decided to head back to this lush island again. This time around we will be staying at a new resort, Fort Young in the heart of Rouseau. The trip we have booked is both for diving and nature tours so make sure you see what is included in the package!
Fort Young is at the center of the capital Rouseau making it easy to walk around the town, steps away from shops and restaurants. If you are looking for some traditional Caribbean relaxation, there’s always the rooftop jacuzzis, infinity pool, gymnasium and spa. Add in the best known restaurant in Dominica where you can dine while watching the sun set into the sea, as well as a buzzing cocktail bar and cafe, and its clear why The Fort Young has long been seen on the island as the place to be.
First built in 1699, the Fort Young has been at the heart of the island’s story for several hundred years. Travelers from across the globe have stayed within our walls from the very beginning, all sharing the same breathtaking setting that guests at Dominica’s best known luxury hotel do today.
The 73 guest rooms and suites are ideal for both business and leisure travelers. All rooms are fully air-conditioned, equipped with ceiling fans, direct dial telephones, cable TV, wifi and wired Internet, and feature a terrace or balcony offering the most dramatic sea and sunset views you can imagine.
Their two waterside restaurants, cafe and bar will satisfy the most demanding tastebuds from morning to night. The spa, gym and yoga sessions ensure rest or exercise in the most idyllic of surroundings. And once you step outside the historic walls, Dominica’s many activities and attractions are on their doorstep, whether you are hiking in the forested hills that surrounds the grounds, or snorkeling or diving in the warm Caribbean sea that laps at your feet.
Read all about the heritage of the hotel here it will surely amaze you.
Ocean View Rooms
Combining breathtaking views (some with wraparound balconies offering 270 degree vistas), there’s nothing but sky separating the balconies of the oceanfront rooms from the turquoise seas below. Every room comes with bath with shower, cavernous cupboards to store your clothes and possessions, coffee making facilities and TV. and air conditioning.
Diving in Dominica is some of the best in the Caribbean, if not the world, with a range of dive sites to suit everyone from the total beginner to the deep sea thrill seeker.
Buddy Dive at Fort Young is perfectly located for anyone looking for the best in diving vacations. The Buddy Dive operation consists of a fully stocked dive retail shop, teaching facilities, rental gear, lockers, rinse tanks, and outdoor showers. All are located dockside, making it more convenient for guests to enjoy the boat dives. The private jetty enables the dive boats to pick you up from the hotel to go to the best dive sites from which many are just less than 20 minutes by boat away.
There are an abundant amount of other activities to do around the island. Here are some highlights you might want to visit.
Pool: Lounge by the pool as you gaze out onto the beautiful blue waters and green mountains.
Whale Watching: With this package you get a 1 afternoon of whale watching! Sperm whales and dolphins are seen frequently.
Champagne Falls: Champagne reef is one of Dominica’s “signature” dive sites. Shallow enough to be enjoyed by snorkelers and scuba divers alike, the water temperature over the vents found throughout the reef can reach 90 degrees, making the sea floor warm to the touch! The constant bubbling of gasses creates a truly unique experience – like being in a hot tub in the middle of the ocean!
Trafalgar Falls: These famous twin waterfalls are a 20-minute drive from Roseau. It’s a short 10 to 15 minute walk along a well-maintained path to the visitor reception area, where you can photograph both falls from a viewing platform.
Titou Gorge: The hike through Titou Gorge, is actually a short swim from the base of a waterfall through a series of natural “rooms and ponds” formed by high cliff walls canopied by interlaced trees. The undulating sides of this deep, narrow gorge were formed as molten lava cooled and split apart.
Emerald Pool: An easy 15-minute hike takes you through magnificent overhanging trees and lush vegetation to the shimmering pool, which appears green in the tree-filtered sunlight. If you go for a dip, you can swim right up to the waterfall!
